VEGAN ON TOUR
The Roadie's Guide to Eating Plant-Based on Tour
Eating plants on tour is not a personality. It is a set of contingencies.
This is the map I wish someone had handed me after the third tour of eating fries and calling it ethics.
Tell production early
If you wait until day one, you are a surprise. Surprises get fruit plates.
Put it in the rider. Put it in the email. Put it in the group chat with the TM. Then still pack food, because paper is not dinner.
Protein is not optional
You are lifting weight, standing for ten hours, and sleeping like a folded chair. Pasta alone will make you mean.
Tofu, seitan, tempeh, beans, lentils, protein powder. Rotate them so you do not hate all of them by week two.
The social layer
Crew meals are bonding. If you sit out every dinner you become a ghost. Find the thing you can eat and show up anyway. Order sides. Share fries. Be a person.
Money
Plant-based on the road can get expensive if you only eat restaurants. Grocery runs keep you solvent. Fast food hacks keep you alive. Nice vegan spots are for the cities that actually have them.
